Björnahemmet existed in the middle of the 17th century. Björn was a Swedish/Danish male name. ”Hem” has the meaning ”new settlement”. In the middle of the 17th century, Gisel Månsson lived here, he was sentenced to camp trial and would pay 12 ”riksdaler” in fines. But he was poor, his wife was ill and the wolf had taken his sheep. Therefore he didn't have to pay. In 1895 the Bear House was depopulated.
